and another Christmas gone too soon

As if fleeting goodness droll
what demagogues do rule
alas the death of freedom born
and another Christmas gone too soon
when holding on to faith seems cruel
then tyrants waste of ancient lands for want
how can we hold our garland true
in keeping soulful crest or splendor
when love and earnest due,
a steadfast nature grown,
our lord shines in us through and through
save wit from trees over sea
so always sweet to touch we'll be
for tender times in earnest known ....
